The WoW Class has existed continuously for over 72 years. The class was originally created under Director Selmer Wake. The first weaving teacher was Russell Groff, a veteran of World War II who learned to weave to help recover from his war injuries. This class provides much more than just weaving instruction. It is a much needed creative outlet for participants, in a supportive environment, for community members from all walks of life. It also continues to support the local fiber arts community by bringing in new students and providing access to equipment and materials. See CLASSES page for details on enrolling.
The Wonders of Weaving (WoW) class at SBCC’s School of Extended Learning (formerly Adult Ed) continues to pursue fundraising efforts. Funds raised are primarily intended to offset the high cost of tuition, making the class more affordable for all weaving students. Money from the class fund covers one third of the tuition fee per student each session, as well as covering the cost of some equipment and materials.
