The first Saturday is the WAKE Center Arts and Crafts Fair from 10-4.  The weaving class will have a table with wonderful woven items and there will art and craft from the other classes also.

November Guild Meeting – November 3rd

Robin Lynde from Meridian Jacobs Farm https://www.meridianjacobs.com will give a presentation on the World of Wool: Breeds of sheep and influences on fiber characteristics.

If you are a yarn lover and want to know about wool this will be fun and informative. The Saturday morning presentation at our regular Guild meeting is free and open to the public. November’s Meeting will be at Maravilla.

October Guild Meeting – note changes

We are hanging a show!

We will NOT be having our regular Saturday meeting in October.  Instead, we are having a Fiber Arts Show at the Goleta Library and the Reception, on Sunday, October 7th, 2-4 in the afternoon, will serve as our October gathering.  Members please get your entry form in and friends and family join us at the Reception or see the show during the month of October.

September Guild Meeting – with Deborah Jarchow

Deborah Jarchow will demonstrate warping and weaving on a Rigid Heddle Loom.

The meeting will be held at the San Antonio Village Clubhouse at our regular time of 9:30 (social time) followed by a short business meeting and then the featured speaker.

The beginning Rigid Heddle workshop in the afternoon is full but there is room in the workshops on Sunday and Monday for more advanced techniques.

August Guild Meeting

Dye Day at Tucker’s Grove Park – August 4th (9 am to 3 pm)

Once again we will have multiple dye vats set up for sampling.  This year it is indigo and mushroom plus cochineal and oxalis! (if everyone remembers to bring their frozen flowers!)

This is always a fun day.  Please remember to bring a picnic lunch and any dye vat you want to share.  There will be some shibori tools available. Bring gloves and wear old clothes. Bring something to dye, please note it must be a natural fabric to take the dye well.  Nothing large or bulky and not too many items.  The public is welcome.  Bring your lunch and something to drink, it may be warm

Tucker’s Grove is at the intersection of Turnpike and Cathedral Oaks.  Look for us at one of the picnic areas not too far in.

July Guild Meeting – Time off for Convergence!

We will NOT have our regular monthly meeting in July because so many members will be off attending Convergence www.weavespindye.org/convergence-2018 .

Use the extra morning to prep for our August Dye Day in the park (August 4th at Tucker’s Grove).  Details here mid July.  Or you might want to work on a piece for our Fiber Show at the Goleta Library in October!

May Guild Meeting – Fiber Artist Georgeanne Alex

Personality, culture, history, and art are woven into the vintage material that
Georganne Alex has chosen for her line of accessories and clothing. Nowhere
is this more apparent than in her use of the Japanese kimono, a primary
source for inspiration and design in Georganne’s work.

Georganne started weaving through Adult Education classes in 1982 and has
continued to perfect her craft for the past 27 years. She practices both onloom
and off-loom weaving which makes her work a fusion of techniques as
well as fabrications.

Visit www.alexclothing.com for more info about Georgeanne’s work.

March Guild Meeting is SPECIAL!

Our March Guild Meeting is the much anticipated biennial FIBER FRENZY!  That is why we are announcing early so y’all can get ready.  It is a great time to clean out your closet, reduce your stash and buy someone else’s!

This event is a sale to benefit our scholarship fund and there is always a good selection of YARN, FABRIC, BOOKS and TOOLS, all fiber related of course (spinning, weaving, quilting, needlework, knitting, crocheting, basketry and dyeing).  Maybe some special finished handmade items too. You can donate your old goods to the Guild or split the profits.  Because of the time needed to package and label everything there is a deadline of March 5th.  If you know where the CCL Wake Center weaving class is take it there (Tues/Thurs 10-4) otherwise CONTACT us and we’ll give you a number to call to arrange something else.

You can also take it with you to our February Guild Meeting on February 3rd.
