Guild member Nancy Butterfield will be teaching two workshops for the Coastal Quilters Guild this winter—Sashiko Stitching and Japanese Rice Bag (Komebukuro)—offered together as a two-for-one opportunity. The Introductory Sashiko Workshop takes place Saturday, February 14, focusing on traditional Japanese hand stitching techniques that can be used for quilts, garments, visible mending, and more (no sewing machine required). On Saturday, February 21, participants will use their stitched blocks—or fabric scraps—to create a reversible Japanese Rice Bag, perfect for carrying stitching or knitting projects. Both workshops are held 9:00–3:00 at St. Andrews and are open to members and non-members. Registration, fees, and full details are available through the Coastal Quilters Guild website.
