Local fiber artist and Guild supporter Eliot Spaulding is featured in Haptic Knowing, an exhibition of five artists exploring touch as a way of thinking, learning, and understanding the world. Featured artists are Andrea Bersaglieri, Lea Feinstein, Janet Ayako Neuwalder, Carol Shaw-Sutton, and Eliot Spaulding.
A celebration of fiber, creativity, and community, this exhibition features the work of local weavers and spinners exploring texture, color, and technique through contemporary fiber art.
It is on view September 26, 2026 through January 9, 2027 in the Logan Gallery at the Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts, 8585 Ojai Santa Paula Road, Ojai. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
Lorelyn Eaves will be our presenter. With help provided through our scholarship program, Lorelyn took two online courses with Debbie Lyddon titled “Sensing Place” , where they worked in mark, stitch and 3D mixed media inspired by sound and the rhythm of your surroundings. Lorelyn will share some of the takeaways from the course work and talk about how that new information influences what she is currently doing as she develops her own personal work.
A small-group retreat blending yoga and natural dye on Mexico's Caribbean coast. Textile designer Erica Kowalsky of Down To Earth Goods leads two botanical dye workshops using local plant material, and artist Karen Gutiérrez, co-founder of the art residence Najil Chak, leads an indigo workshop.
